Sanmina-SCI Corporation specialises in electronic subcontracting services for the IT, multimedia, automotive, defence, aerospace and medical sectors. The group’s activities are based around 4 core businesses:
design and manufacture of printed circuit boards ;
design and production of electronic systems and sub-systems;
optoelectronic and cable assembly;
services: integration, maintenance, engineering, etc.
Sanmina-SCI has operations in Asia, North and South America and Europe, but its manufacturing activities are concentrated in low-cost countries, at the cost of abandoning even recently acquired industrial sites. In France, the company specialises in buying up factories for subcontracting work (Alcatel, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Philips, etc.).
Its 2007 revenues (USD 10.4 billion) were lower than in 2006 (USD 11 billion). Heavy losses have been announced for the 4th fiscal quarter of 2007.
